The cost to replace a sprinkler head can vary based on factors like your location, the type of sprinkler head, and your level of expertise. However, here's a rough estimate:
  • Basic spray or rotor head vary depending on the type and model.
  • Labor: If you're hiring someone, labor costs generally run by the hour, or service call, depending on your location and the professional's experience.
  • Total cost: For a basic replacement, the total cost will vary greatly and will include parts and labor.
Why is my sprinkler head sinking and how to fix it:
Sprinkler heads can sink for several reasons:
  • Soil Settlement: Over time, the soil around the sprinkler head can settle, causing it to sink. This is common in newly landscaped areas or where the soil isn't properly compacted.
  • Pressure or Water Flow Issues: High water pressure can force the sprinkler head downward. Check and adjust the water pressure if needed. Clogs in the line can also lead to pressure irregularities.
  • Improper Installation: If the sprinkler head was not installed at the correct depth initially, it may sink over time.
To address sinking sprinkler heads, you'll need to dig around the head, add soil or a riser to bring it to the correct height, and ensure it's properly secured in place. If pressure or clogging issues are contributing to the problem, address those as well.
